J2W STORY

J2W was born through tragedy and loss. In 2012, founder Brody Schmidt lost his Nephew who was serving his country as a U.S. Army soldier fighting the war on terror. Chief Warrant Officer Suresh Krause was an immigrant from Sri Lanka who came to America in 1998 with a dream of a better life. Compelled by the tragic events of 9/11, Suresh was determined to show his gratitude to the United States of America and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after graduating from college. Suresh’s passion was to become an Army Aviator. Suresh earned his wings and the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. On the morning of August 16th 2012, Suresh along with six soldiers aboard the UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter he was co-piloting were killed after being shot down by a single RPG fired from a remote cave in the mountainous area in the Southern Province of Kandahar, Afghanistan. Riding was a shared passion for Brody and Suresh. The day after the funeral of his Nephew, Brody went on a ride down the Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu, CA. He dedicated that ride to his Nephew and from that day forward, Brody vowed to keep the memory of Suresh alive by journaling his rides and stories through social media.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF OUR NAME

Established in 2012, J2W, (Journey On 2 Wheels) is an homage to all riders who are on a 2-wheel journey. J2W is symbolic to the freedom that is felt on the open road. There is purpose and meaning in every mile traveled. Each ride represents a new chapter in a story that ends only when the kickstand hits the ground for the last time.

OUR COMMITMENT

J2W is committed to providing a community for riders bonded together by a love for riding and the values of family, friends and causes that are personal and meaningful. Our commitment extends to provide quality apparel that is equally as personal and symbolic to your journey. Through a knitting process called “ring spinning” our fabrics are manufactured in California then transported to Baja, Ensenada where they are cut, sewn and finished. This intensive process creates a garment that is superior in quality, softness, luxury and durability for you to enjoy on every ride and occasion. We hope J2W inspires you to share your story. To share the loss of a loved one. Support a cause. Celebrate the life of a friend or family member. Or simply share your story of why you ride.
